Why Natural Skincare? (Part 3)
In a world where there are skincare and cosmetics brands advertising and popping up left, right, and centre, what made us delve into the complicated and saturated world of skincare? And what made us choose to make it even harder for ourselves by joining the natural skincare niche?
Well, there are a few reasons for that.
In this three-part series, we’re going to take you back in time and give you a bit of background behind why we decided to get into this industry. We’re going to explain our reasons for creating natural cosmetics, and why we believe we’re going against the grain by having affordable natural skincare.
What does that ingredient do?
In previous blogs we’ve already explained that we started PureLyfe due to a lack of affordable, effective skincare. But there’s another reason, and it might just be the one that we’re most passionate about.

There is conflicting messaging around how much of your skincare is actually absorbed by your skin (more to come on that in another blog), and that is the premise on which many other brands in the natural niche operate.
Science isn’t so absolute on that statement, but that doesn’t mean that the ingredients in your skincare don’t require serious consideration.
Have you ever taken the time to look at the ingredients in your skincare?
If you have, there’s a very good chance that you might have come across many ingredients whose names you can barely pronounce, let alone know what they are and why they’re in your cosmetics.
This just didn’t seem right to us. But what’s more, from personal and anecdotal experience, we found that many of these strange-sounding ingredients were causes of skin irritation.
The very product you are using to help your skin shouldn’t be harming it.
So many products that we tried made all sorts of wonderful claims (and the back of the packaging was full to the brim with ingredients that looked like they were written in a foreign language) yet they were often ineffective and could leave the skin looking worse for wear.
Fortunately, you don’t actually need all of these ingredients!
When it comes to nutrition, good, basic advice tends to be: don’t eat anything that has ingredients with names you don’t recognise. For us, the same philosophy applies to skincare.
Supporting your skin doesn’t need to be complicated.
By using only the ingredients your precious skin needs, your products will be more effective, your skin will be happier, and your bank account will be grateful.
Stay tuned for upcoming blogs that delve into the ingredients we use and explain why they're so wonderful.
